Meet Our Team

Meet Jess:

Hello there!

I have always felt a deep sense of connection to the human spirit and how our life experiences shape who we are. I am drawn to the beauty of the therapeutic journey and my priority is to create a safe environment so you can truly feel secure in being vulnerable in this space I have created.

Together, we can go on a journey of self discovery, and kindle self determination and activate personal growth, which can generate meaningful change.

I am a warm, non-judgemental, empathetic Mental Health Social Worker who has had over ten years’ experience working within the public mental health setting, practicing across the life span. This includes, Older person’s Mental Health, within the inpatient setting and community setting, Adult Mental Health, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit, specialising in eating disorders, Early Psychosis, Queensland Ambulance Service and Acute Mental Health working within the Emergency Department. My experience and knowledge across the lifespan and diversity of complex mental health disorders can be utilised by implementing appropriate interventions for your engagement.

During this time, I have developed an interest in evidence base practice and the implementation of various mental health interventions to generate positive psychological change. This interest progressed to pursuing further study and I has completed a Masters of Mental Health majoring in psychotherapy.

I enjoy meeting people from unique and diverse backgrounds and together starting a therapeutic journey to learn about the distinctive life experiences central to you. Together, understanding your concerns which guides the development of therapeutic goals and tailoring interventions to suit your individual needs.

I work with clients from the age of 13 and work with experiencing a range of mental health concerns including but not limited to, depression, anxiety, fertility, postpartum challenges, eating disorders, psychosis, mood disorders, childhood trauma, adjustment disorders, self harm, life’s stressors and grief and loss. I draw from therapy modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and psychoanalysis.

In my spare time, I am a mother, poodle mum, partner to a beautiful Bundaberg soul and the reason I call Bundaberg home. I feel proud and lucky to be apart of this community and hope to give back to the people of Bundaberg.

Our psychosocial support team member

annette

I am a compassionate and experienced mental health worker based in Bundaberg, with a strong background in connecting with people from diverse backgrounds and at all stages of life. Drawing on my previous experiences in Defence, IT, and caring in both hospital and community care settings, I bring a unique perspective to my practice. I understand the challenges of transition, resilience, and growth, which deeply inform my trauma-informed and person-centred approach.

I am dedicated to creating safe and supportive environments where clients feel genuinely heard, respected, and empowered to work toward resilience and wellbeing. My approach is collaborative and strengths-based, tailored to each individual’s needs—whether they are navigating complex mental health challenges, adjusting to major life changes, or simply seeking to improve their overall quality of life.

I am passionate about reducing stigma around mental health and believe in the importance of building strong community connections to foster belonging and support. By integrating my clinical knowledge with empathy and lived experiences, I strive to walk alongside clients as they discover new strategies for healing and growth.

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy playing squash, spending time with my dog and family, and embracing the lifestyle Bundaberg offers—from exploring its natural beauty to engaging with its vibrant, close-knit community. This balance between professional dedication and personal wellbeing reflects my belief in living a life of connection, care, and purpose.

Psychosocial connection group

By having the courage to link in with Bundaberg’s Healing Hub, you have already done the hardest part of your healing journey. We understand how challenging and even anxiety provoking it can be to take that step to engage with a therapy clinic. That’s even more of a reason to honour your healing journey and celebrate your new way of being with Bundaberg’s Healing Hub.

So that’s why Bundaberg’s Healing Hub has developed the psychosocial community connection group.

Here at Bundaberg’s Healing Hub, we believe connection to community is a vital aspect in recovery and maintaining wellbeing. So, here at Bundaberg’s Healing Hub, we have developed a monthly psychosocial connection group which is facilitated by an experienced Mental Health Nurse, Annette.

This psychosocial connection is a group activity that is inclusive and complimentary to all our current Bundaberg’s Healing Hub clients. Bundaberg’s Healing Hub believes that engaging with other like minded people and hearing their experiences, exploring what has helped them with life challenges is encouraging and inspirational.

This connection endeavours to erode the stigma mental health can sometimes have and celebrate positive change, recovery and the healing journey clients of Bundaberg’s Healing Hub have activated.

This intervention provided by Bundaberg’s Healing Hub derives from the biopsychosocial model. This is an evidence-based mental health intervention and here at Bundaberg’s Healing Hub, we believe this aspect of the healing journey provides optimal mental health intervention and recovery.

So here, at Bundaberg’s Healing Hub we want to honour your journey, encourage and celebrate your new way of being.
